Component 2 – Preparation for the IMO Member State Audit Scheme

Description

The IMO Member State Audit scheme (IMSAS) is intended to provide an audited IMO Member State with a comprehensive and objective assessment of how effectively it administers and implements those mandatory IMO instruments which are covered by the Scheme.

The Agency will support the project’s beneficiaries to prepare, undergo and follow-up IMSAS carried out by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

Beneficiaries, upon request can benefit of the same assistance provided by EMSA to the EU Members States, namely preparation of the staff of the maritime administrations through a tailor-made 3-day training session organised in cooperation with IMO; provision of technical support to meet the III Code standards including the preparation of national overall maritime strategies; technical support to prepare and implement the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) submitted to IMO.
