Transparency is one of our core values at EMSA. As an EU Agency, we are committed to making information about us and what we do available in an open and accessible way. We are clear and open about how we work, how we operate, and how we make decisions.

This is important for our own work, and for the citizens whom we serve. It’s important to us that everyone feels they can find the information they require from us, and that our procedures and processes are clear and easily understood.

Our transparency value is founded on three pillars:

	A transparent administration Through our administrative and financial frameworks, we are clear and open about our work and how we carry it out. The structure of our organisation is accessible to everyone, as is our legal basis – the foundation of our work and the scope of our mandate.
	Transparent decision-making We publish decisions of our governing body and minutes of its meetings on our website. We also publish our financial statements and reports. Materials from our workshops and seminars are also made available after events have finished, so our work can be easily seen and understood.
	Access to information, documents, and data It’s important to us that EU citizens can access information about us, and request documents under the relevant EU legislation. We have three different channels set up to receive queries: access to information; access to documents; and maritime data (for specific category of users).
