As part of the activities developed by EMSA to support ENP and IPA countries beneficiaries of the projects for technical assistance implemented by the Agency, Albania was supported to prepare its maritime administration for the IMO Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS) supposed to take place in 2025.

Albanian governmental authorities dealing with the implementation and enforcement of the IMO Mandatory Instruments were involved in the preparatory audit that was conducted at the premises of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy in Tirana and at the premises of the Albanian Coast Guard and the General Maritime Directorate in Durres.

The preparatory audit was the follow-up of the tailor-made training session delivered in December 2023 and its scope was supporting the Albania Maritime Administration to identify any gaps with the implementation and enforcement of the IMO Mandatory Instruments and undertake corrective actions before the actual audit from IMO.
