OPV against water pollution in the Baltic Sea
Poland

Across Polish territorial waters and the Polish EEZ, Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) SG-301 proactively supports the marine environment while carrying out surveillance and navigational safety tasks.
Within the vessel, a NOx emission reduction system contributes to the improvement of air quality over maritime areas. The combustion engines start using compressed air, and the combustion engine of the emergency generating set is started using an electric starter. The vessel is equipped with AGM batteries to power the signalling and communication circuits, automation and control, radio devices, navigation devices, and fire alarm control panel.
At sea, seawater is used to flush toilets while freshwater is used in port, and kitchen wastewater is ground and de-greased before being discharged into tanks or wastewater treatment plants.
Additionally, the SG-301 carries specialised oil pollution removal equipment on board, meaning it can participate in emergency response operations and the early containment of potential contamination sites. The SG-301 is also equipped with two water cannons, enabling effective extinguishing of fires on other ships or maritime facilities.
