Within the context of SAFEMED V project, EMSA is supporting exchange programmes between Members States of the Mediterranean Memorandum of Understanding (Med MoU) on Port State Control.

The exchange programmes are hosted by the EU MSs that are Members both of the Paris MoU and Med MoU (Cyprus, Croatia, Malta) and involve the participation of Port State Control Officers (PSCOs) from Med MoU members that are non-EU. The Exchange programmes aim to facilitate thee xchange of best practices between PSCOs and to the harmonisation of the inspections standards between the Paris MoU and Med MoU.   

The first session of exchange took place in Limassol (Cyprus) from 10 to 12 June with the participation of 4 PSCOs that participated as observers to the expanded and more detailed inspections carried out by the Cypriot administration on board of a General Cargo and a Container Ship. 

Next sessions of the exchange are planned to take place in Croatia and in Malta.  

The participants appreciated the initiative and shared their experience in a constructive and interactive way.
