Meetings with Jordanian Maritime Authorities

SAFEMED V

From 12 to 15 May, EMSA’s project officers for SAFEMED visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to meet with national authorities responsible for the implementation of mandatory IMO instruments. The aim of the visit was to gather information for providing drafting assistance with the national maritime strategy pursuant to the IMO Instruments Implementation (III) Code, as well as the coordination of technical assistance within the Project at its halfway point.

The team was hosted by the Jordan Maritime Commission (JMC) as the Project’s Focal Point and the national maritime administration, with a series of interviews carried out with other relevant entities too. The SAFEMED team members provided to all the participating entities an update on the Project and the completed, pending, and planned technical assistance activities. Challenges, cooperation needs, and outstanding items were also discussed, and further actions agreed accordingly.
