On 4 February 2025, EMSA and the European Environment Agency (EEA) will jointly launch the second edition of the European Maritime Transport Environmental Report (EMTER) at a high-level conference streamed live from EMSA’s Lisbon headquarters.

EMTER provides a completely up to date and comprehensive overview of the environmental impact of the maritime transport sector in the EU across a wide range of indicators.

With fully updated information and data, the report gives a factual analysis of the environmental pressures exerted by the maritime transport sector in areas like greenhouse gas emissions, air emissions, underwater noise, biodiversity, pollution, and marine litter.

The report will be launched by the Executive Directors of EMSA and the EEA, Maja Markovčić Kostelac and Leena Ylä-Mononen. The event will feature a keynote speech by Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism.
