Can the rate of LRIT transmission be changed?

Yes, the transmission of position reports can be remotely upgraded up to 15 minutes or can be reduced to one transmission every 24-hour period or temporarily switched off when ships are undergoing repairs, modifications or conversions in dry-dock or in port or is laid up for a long period.
