Beware of on-line fraud and scams claiming association with EMSA

info

The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) has become aware of various fraudulent emails claiming to be from or associated with EMSA. These emails are requesting the recipient to pay a certain amount of money as 'fees'.

EMSA wishes to warn the public of these misleading practices that do not originate from EMSA and are not in any way associated with EMSA. EMSA strongly recommends that recipients of such communication as described above (whether sent by email or communicated in any other way) verify very carefully their authenticity before sending any response. In particular, EMSA suggests that recipients do not send money (or personal information) in response to such requests for payments.

If you are unsure of the authenticity of an email, letter or phone call purportedly from, for or on behalf of EMSA, contact us.
