Montenegro supported to participate in the Paris MoU 66 Seminar

One of the focal points for Port State Control in Montenegro was supported by EMSA’s project for the Enlargement countries to attend the 66 PSC Seminar, arranged by the Paris MoU and held on 6-8 November 2018 in Brussels.

The Paris MoU seminars are held twice a year with the objective to provide participants with an updated overview of the new developments within the Paris MoU, specifically with regards to the decisions of the last PSC Committee meeting and updated or new PSCC Instructions, and to exchange experiences and views with regard to PSC inspections. During the seminar, participants were informed of and discussed issues concerning PSC development, development in EU/EMSA, future requirements, inspection of pilot ladders, LNG as cargo and fuel, and enhanced monitoring and inspection cases.

Montenegro is a cooperating state of the Paris MoU and is invited to the organisation’s seminars and trainings. Funding from EMSA’s project made the participation of one participant from Montenegro to the training possible.

The EU regime on Port State Control (Directive 2009/16/EU) has been based on the pre-existing structure of the Paris MoU, and the progress of the enlargement countries in the Paris MoU context is therefore of high interest of the EU.
