Assisting beneficiary countries in their efforts to build national capacity in preparing for and responding to maritime incidents involving hazardous and noxious substances (HNS), is an important element and a step towards an effective protection of marine environment from HNS.

In this perspective, EMSA and the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC), administrated by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), co-financed and organized a National training course on the response to HNS in the marine environment (Manager Level), which was held in Tekirdağ, Turkey from 3 to 5 December 2019.

The training hosted by the maritime administration of Turkey, was held in the premises of the recently inaugurated ‘’Centre the National Maritime Safety and Emergency Response-UDEM” administrated by Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Tukey. It brought together 56 participants with a background relevant to the topic, addressing the considerations and challenges in responding to HNS incidents in Turkey.
