Training on ship and port facility security in Turkey

Following a request from Turkey and within the EU-funded project “Preparatory measures for the participation of enlargement countries in EMSA’s work”, an advanced training on ship and port facility security took place in Istanbul, Turkey, from 29 to 31 July 2019. The training session was designed for officials of the Turkish maritime administration involved in the implementation and monitoring of legislation related to ship and port facility security, both at the central administration and in the field (as flag state inspectors or duly authorised officers). 25 participants successfully completed the training, which was based on a number of case studies aiming to give to participants a practical approach on security issues. Participants had the opportunity to actively work together to understand several practicalities and possible challenges in the implementation of the legal framework.
