Montenegro supported to participate in the Paris MoU Expert Training “Safety and Environment“

Through the support from EMSA’s project for the Enlargement countries, one officer from Montenegro attended the Expert Training “Safety and Environment”, which was arranged by the Paris MoU and held from 26 February to 1 March 2019 in Scheveningen, The Netherlands.

The objective of the training was to harmonise the interpretation of the regulatory regime within Port State Control, focussing specifically on Tanker definitions, LSA, MARPOL, IMDG, BWM, and PSC procedures, interaction and discussions.

Montenegro is a cooperating member of the Paris MoU and is invited to the organisation’s seminars and trainings. Funding from EMSA’s project made the participation of one Port State Control Officer from Montenegro to the training possible.

The EU regime on Port State Control (Directive 2009/16/EU) has been based on the pre-existing structure of the Paris MoU, and the progress of the enlargement countries in the Paris MoU context is therefore of high interest of the EU.
